The Castle of Valon : A Journey Through the Middle Ages
The first mentions of the castle date back to the 12th century. The buildings you can visit today were built in the early 14th century and modified in the 16th century.
During your visit, the Castle of Valon is yours, and the fate of the Lord of Valon is in your hands! Are you ready to challenge your friends with spells and swords?
In the wardrobes you will discover handmade costumes, and in the wooden chest you will arm yourself with swords, shields and magic wands.
Valon : A Picturesque Village
A stroll through Valon is a journey through time. Along its charming main street, visitors can admire the remarkable Auvergnat rural heritage.
You will discover traditional features such as the stone bread oven, the secadou (chestnut drying house) and the wheat threshing floor. These elements bear witness to a not-so-distant past, when villagers produced their own wine and cultivated fruit trees and chestnut groves.
Enjoy the scenery of a beautiful row of houses with slate roofs, typical of Carladez, with dry-stone walls and wild flowers.
The castle keeps watch like a guardian angel…
